Sipho joined Guildford Athletic Club as Technical Director for the 2010 – 2011 season with 6 years experience in a similar position in Prince George .Sipho has had an impressive 15 year soccer career – some of his accomplishments as a player include playing for the Whitecaps, Montreal IMPACT, Edmonton Drillers and U.S. Indoor teams. Sipho also played in the FIFA Beach World Cup in Brazil (2006), where he was the leading goal scorer for Canada and top ten in the tournament. He was a player and assistant coach for Canada’s National Futsal Team.

Rob was a former Celtic FC youth player and then played professionally with both St. Mirren and Arbroath in Scotland. He then started coaching with Celtic in their youth development program and emigrated to Canada in 2003. Since that time, Rob has been extensively involved as part of our Surrey United coaching staff.

Scott is currently the head coach for Langley United Youth Soccer Associations 1998 boys and the assistant coach with the B.C. Provincial U/16 Boys team. He has also been actively involved in the North Shore soccer development centre for the past 5 years. He has also been a Super Y league assistant coach and a U14 boys’ Metro assistant coach. A former semi-professional player in Britain who had several tryouts with professional clubs in England, Scotland and Holland, Scott played his university soccer for Kwantlen Polytechnic University and was captain of the team.

Scott has been coaching in Surrey and involved in grassroots development for 10+ years.  As a Head Coach, in recent years he has guided both boys and girls teams to Coastal Cup and Provincial Cup Finals as well as back-to-back BC Summer Games gold medals.  Scott is currently Staff Head Coach with Guildford Athletic Club and working towards his ‘B’ National License.

Frank is one of the most recognizable coaches in Surrey soccer. Over the years as a metro coach he has developed many players for higher levels, including Provincial teams and Prospects programs. He was also the head coach of the 2007 U14 Provincial Cup championship Boys team from Surrey United.

Chelsey is currently the assistant coach for the U18 Girls Surrey United BCSPL team. She has been a part of the Surrey United club for 8 years as both a player for the Women’s Premier Team and a staff coach. Her coaching experience includes U16 Girls Provincial Team in which 7 of those players are now on the U17 Canadian National team, Langley United Youth Soccer Association, Surrey United Youth Soccer Association, Top Soccer (coaching children with disabilities) with USYSA, River City Soccer Club through Washington Youth Soccer Association, and instructed a University level course at Eastern Washington University. In her career she has played at the Division 1 NCAA level where she earned a 4 year athletic scholarship at Eastern Washington University and in the W-League for Spokane Blackwidows. Chelsey was a part of the Canadian National Training Centre for 5 years as well as the BC Provincial program. She holds her Pre-B license along with her CCC, CCY, CCS, and Coaching Ethics Certificate by Coaches BC and is pursuing her Provincial B License this Spring.

Nick’s playing career included 5 year CIS career at Trinity Western University that saw him win player of the year honours in 2007 and representing his country at the Junior and University levels. He also had a professional experience playing with Chamois Niortais in the French second Division. Nick is looking to bring to Surrey United considerable coaching expertise from his experience as an assistant to Mike Mosher with the UBC Thunderbirds and also coaching in the Vancouver community (Douglas Park) over the last 3 years. He is working towards obtaining his CSA A-licence which will fully complement his BA in Human Kinetics.

Spiro has been actively coaching in the soccer community for many years and has spent the vast majority of that time with Surrey United. He has had great success in developing many players who have advanced to university and professional careers, as well as provincial team and national team representation. His teams have qualified for National Championships three times, finishing fourth twice and winning the Championship in 2008. Spiro was named British Columbia Youth Coach of the Year in 2008. Spiro currently plays for the very successful Surrey United Masters after enjoying a long tenure at the premier level with the Surrey United Premier team. Spiro is pursuing his USSF Coaching levels in the summer 2011.

Wayne has had a very distinguished coaching career enjoying successes at many different levels including Whitecaps Prospects, Super Y League, Senior High School Boys and as Provincial Team Head Coach. A High School teacher by profession, Wayne’s coaching credentials include working with the Whitecap Prospect and BC Summer Games Program and he was the U14 Girls NSSDC Technical Director last year.  He currently coaches a U14A Metro Boys Select Team that posts an incredible 17-1-1 record.  Prior to his extensive coaching career Wayne played for SFU and was also drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps of the now defunct NASL league.

Devon Wharf played youth soccer for UBC Alumni premier women’s team and was a five year member of the BC provincial team. She also attended National Camps at the U-16 and U-18 age groups, before earning a full athletic scholarship NCAA Division 1, at the University of Arizona, where she was named PAC-10 player of the week, also winning the PAC 10 Conference and made a sweet sixteen appearance in the NCAA tournament.

After earning a B.A in Psychology she moved back to Vancouver where she currently plays for Surrey United Premier Women’s team, which won the 2011 National Club Championship in Montreal Quebec.

Devon’s coaching experience consists of being the Assistant Coach to the U15 Girls BC Provincial Soccer team for the past two years and she was also the Goalkeeper coach at the University of the Fraser Valley for the Women’s Soccer Program in 2010 who made their first postseason appearance that year.

She currently holds all Community Coaching Certifications and is pursuing her Provincial B License this Spring.

Derek has been actively coaching at the Metro level in Surrey for the past 10 years. The last 8 years with Surrey United. He has coached and helped develop many players who have advanced to play at the University level as well as Provincial and National teams. Derek has guided both boys and girls teams to Coastal Cup and Provincial Cup finals.

Assistant Coach:
Chelsey played at Eastern Washington University lettering all four years and graduating with a business degree. She has successfully completed the B pre-test and is currently pursuing her B Provincial . Chelsey was an assistant coach in the BC Soccer Provincial Team Program with the U16 girls team that earned a bronze medal at the 2011 National Championships.
