Surrey United Weekly Round-Up
April 2nd & 3rd
Surrey United U-14 Girls took on Calgary Blizzard this past Sunday at Cloverdale Athletic Park. Calgary stayed compact on defense, making it difficult for Surrey to get forward on the attack. With several chances on net in the first half, United were unable to convert any of their chances. Leaving it 0-0 at the half.
Surrey maintained possession the entire second half. United’s first goal came from a Mikayla Tupper corner kick; deflecting off one of Calgary’s defenders and into the back of the net. Sarah Fewings slotted in the second goal, calmly slotting the ball in the bottom left corner off a breakaway. The game finished 2-0.
Surrey United faced Coastal FC at Cloverdale Athletic, in a lacklustre effort by Surrey. At half time it was 0-0 and just 7 minutes into the second half, Coastal scored to go up 1-0. In the 85th minute Brittany Costa was able to tie the score with a nice header goal from a corner kick. With just over 1 minute left to play, Coastal scored their second goal and went on to win the game 2-1 over Surrey United.
